Dr Prakash completed his MBBS from Chengalpattu Medical College in 2002, followed by an MD from Madurai Medical College in 2007. He subsequently obtained his DM in Gastroenterology from Kilpauk Medical College in 2012.

Dr Prakash began his academic career as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Meenakshi Medical College, where he served from 2007 to 2008. He later worked as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Bharath Hospital, Kottayam, until 2014. From 2014 to 2016, he was associated with Vadamalayan Hospitals, Madurai, serving as a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Therapeutic Endoscopist.

Prior to joining NMC Specialty Hospital Al Ain, Dr Prakash worked at a tertiary private hospital in Dubai, UAE from 2016 to 2020 as a Specialist Gastroenterologist.

Additionally, he has completed advanced training in third-space endoscopy at West China Hospital, Chengdu, China, and has a special interest in the application of artificial intelligence in healthcare.

Dr Prakash holds Membership of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, (Glasgow) and is a member of the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India.

In recognition of his academic excellence, Dr. Prakash was awarded the University Gold Medal in Medical Gastroenterology in 2012 by The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University. He also successfully cleared the ESEGH examination in 2018 and MRCP (UK) in 2025.
