1. Shawarma

Shawarma is a very famous Mediterranean cuisine originating from Turkey. Although Shawarma is usually eaten with tabbouleh, it can also be modified as a dish, be it a sandwich or a wrap. 

Shawarma itself is a combination of thinly sliced meat that is either placed in a spit or rolled using pita. The most famous Shawarma dish is chicken shawarma, where it has been the most popular choice for family meals.

2. Kebab

Another traditional Mediterranean dish that might be perfect for Iftar with family is kebab. Kebab is a dish that originated from Turkey and first mentioned in world history in 1337. Hence, making kebab one of the oldest dishes listed in this list. 

There are many variations of kebabs all around the world. In Turkey, there are Doner and Shish kebab. In China, it is known as Chuan. In Greece, there are Gyro and Souvlaki kebabs, and in India, the kebab is known as Shami.
