Here are a few healthy snacks options for 9-12 months baby that are perfect for busy moms.
1. Fresh Fruits
Fresh fruits are very easy and quick to serve as a snack and babies love them! It is packed with vitamins and minerals; fresh fruits are the ultimate healthy snack for little fingers. Serve orange slices, pear, apple and peaches or a bowl of chopped grapes.
Just cut up your baby’s favourite fruits and store in up to three days for maximum freshness!
2. Smoothies
Babies love smoothies! You can get smoothie mix packs in the frozen section of most supermarkets for a quick alternative, but for a healthier option, you can use whatever fruit you have!
3. Veggie Sticks and Hummus
Cucumber, baby sweetcorn, carrots and almost anything is good dipped into hummus. Steam the vegetables to soften them, or you can even serve it raw if your baby is healthy enough. You can also give them breadsticks or pitta dippers.
4. Homemade Savoury Muffins
Muffins are handy to make and quick to ‘grab and go’. They can be made in bulk and frozen. Once you have a basic muffin recipe, you can add all sorts of healthy, veggie fillings too.
5. Yoghurt Covered Fruits
Deliciously light and healthy, frozen yoghurt covered fruits are the perfect finger food snack for your baby. Super easy to do, they are ideally stored in batches, great for busy moms.
6. Mini Pizza
Toast half an English muffin with marinara sauce and add chopped vegetables. To top it off, add shredded cheese sparingly and broil for two minutes until the cheese melts. Delicious!
7. Dairy / Eggs
Dairy products like cheese, frozen yoghurt, hard cooked, diced eggs, scrambled eggs and egg muffins are natural on the go snacks for babies.
8. Peanut Butter Oatmeal Energy Balls
With natural sweetness and the flavours of cookie dough, they are delicious and nutritious. Please make sure those who are allergic to peanuts and use sunflower seed butter instead. (These also work well with almond butter.)
